Introduction
Atoosa Zamani Rezaeiyan, known as Madgal (meaning mad girl) born in Iran, Tehran 1995 April 27, is an Iranian singer, composer, songwriter and audio engineer. She started her official activity in Frasi music in Persian Rap market and she had her first cooperation featuring Ali GDaal (the famous Iranian songwriter and rapper and an official member of Paydar Band) in the song, full moon. (به فارسی: قرص ماه) This song was published in the album called Winter showed up and left (به فارسی: زمستون امد و رفت) by Ali GDaal 2015. She had close relationship to Paydar Band members which is based by Erfan Pydar and had featuring songs in Ayatoltrap (به فارسی: آیت الترپ) and Motivation (به فارسی: انگیزه) albums. Erfan Paydar has also announced about future collaborative projects with Madgall and Paydar band. Madgal has also other various activities plus what mentioned above. She uploads educational and fun videos on YouTube and is known as one of the pioneer YouTubers of Iran and her content has positive feedback and engagement from her fans. She is also highly talented in playing classic guitar and cooking. She was also active in teaching English language both in tutorial and public classes in valid English institutions in Tehran. Madgal leaves Iran to the destination of Dubai to study in the Audio engineering field in university in 2016, but she was forced to go back to Iran because she could not receive her visa to stay in Dubai and after that she attempts to immigrate to Canada; she finally leaves to Canada in 2019 and she settles in Canada- Toronto. She has also announced that she is about to release her short album (EP) named violet (به فارسی: بنفش) with her composing and Ali GDaal featuring.
In addition, she declares to have more activities in producing personal songs both in English and Farsi, composing and producing educational content on YouTube.
Personal life
Madgal was born in 1995 April 27, Tehran and is originally from there. Her paternal family was an artistic family and they were into music. Her father has been a keyboard player and singer, also her grandfather is a painter. In fact, all her paternal family were interested in music and art. Atoosa implies all her family had personal interests in these field of art and every each of her family members were self-taught. Atoosa was not interested in studying while she was in school and was suffering from Hyperactivity disorder Attention-deficit (ADHD). In her childhood she avoided doing what was not attractive for her and as a result she was known as the naughty student in classes. Meanwhile, she interprets her interests in art and started painting when she was too young; painting was pacifying for her. When she was 8, her family recognized her talent and interests in art and took her traditional singing courses and Atoosa could pass the courses successfully and gained many experiences. Her traditional singing educator was Mrs. Lotfi. Due to Atoosa’s differences and her intelligence comparing others same age as her, she was the youngest student in the courses she was attending; for instance, she had 8 years old in class with the average of 20-30 years old students. All told, she could truly understand and perform what has been taught in classes due to her good understanding of music. While taking her courses in music, she attended an acting interview and was accepted as the first chance of taking the role but over some reasons that movie was never screened. Generally, Atoosa was not that much interested in Iranian traditional music and left it over after a while. When she was 11, while she was in her friend’s home, her friend’s father who was aware of her passion for music, gave her a CD of his own selection and while listening this CD, she encounters music styles such as Punk Rock and the Canadian singer and songwriter, Avril Lavigne, and she shows her attraction for this music style. Her fascination for Avril music was persuading her for the first time to involve herself more in music. Then she started writing songs after buying a guitar and learning chords through YouTube videos and wrote music based on those limited chords she knew. Atoosa left high school and started home education lonely and she only attended her exams in school. Also, she did not take university entrance exam in Iran and she did not do anything but music activities for two years and she avoided attending university as long as he was in Iran. Her family was not acquiescent with her decisions but after a while Atoosa went to Dubai- United Arab Emirates, to study in her favorite field, Audio Engineering, in the SAE institute Dubai. She was the top student while studying and could achieve two scholarships from the university; work study scholarship and for best portfolio. The she could do her internship project in one of the best music companies of middle east named Delta Sound or the current company named PRG Delta Sound; but after a week of starting her internship course, she was transferred to Dubai mall for the Dubai mall 10 years Anniversary. Madgal had responsibilities related to audio engineering in Dubai mall and due to her good performance, she was told that she could be officially employed and after a week and finishing her education, she could start working in the same place. Madgal could do some official projects with them as well which are “President Cup Alain”, “Special Olympics World Games Abu Dhabi 2019”, “Special Olympics Abu Dhabi 2019 opening ceremony”, “Omega Dubai Desert Classic”. After a while, Avril, the Canadian singer and songwriter, had a concert in Dubai and the responsibility for sound checking was with the Love Sound company which Madgal was working in. She could meet her childhood idol and favorite singer, Avril, for the first time in backstage. After a while, she wanted to have official cooperation with the company she was working with but because she had Iranian passport, she could not take her visa to stay in Dubai and she also could not get her visa in another company. Then she returned to Iran to immigrate to Canada and while she was waiting for her visa, she released a song called Insomnia (به فارسی: بی خوابی) on Sound Cloud. She also had professional English classes both in English institutes and tutorial classes. She finally immigrates to Canada 2019 and she is living in Canada-Toronto now.
Madgal’s first song and album never released!
Madgal’s first song was the song Confession (به فارسی: اعتراف) which she wrote in 2009. This song was about a person who does not outbreak her emotions or griefs and does not share anything with others; then her heart confesses all the sadness and the song has been expressed from heart’s side. After releasing this single track, she started writing her first album songs. She had been writing her songs on her phone and when she was on a journey in north of Iran, her 7 years old sister jumps in the sea and as she did not know swimming, Atoosa goes to save her and as a result her phone died. All her songs were deleted and she had lost all of them; but she did not stop writing and wrote new songs.
Cooperation
Madgal and Ali GDaal friendship and first album release
Atoosa met Ali GDaal (famous Iranian rapper and songwriter and official member of Paydar band) when she was 17 in Tehran before she heads to Dubai- UAE. Meanwhile their first cooperation formed. The outcome of this collaboration was the song Full moon (به فارسی: قرص ماه) in the album Winter showed up and left ((به فارسی: زمستون امد و رفت by GDaal; this song was composed by Ardalan; as a result, Madgal first presence was in Farsi rap market. Then she left to Dubai but she was still in touch with GDaal. When she immigrated to Canada, her cooperation continued with GDaal. Before that, Madgal and GDaal had collaborations in the album Ayatoltrap (به فارسی: آیت الترپ) which is the common album by Erfan Paydar and Ali GDaal. At the same time, her emotional relationship with GDaal was forged and after a while, a single track named The Beautiful wild (به فارسی: زیبای وحشی) was released from them composed by Kaveh.
Madgal collaboration in Ayatoltrap and Motivation albums
In 2019, Madgal presented in the common album of Ali GDaal and Erfan Paydar, Ayatoltrap, which contained 15 tracks that Madgal collaborated in 2 songs named Medicine (به فارسی: دوا) and Resistance (به فارسی: پایداری). When this album was released, Madgal could reach fame and popularity and also made close friendship with Paydar band members. After a while, another album named Motivation (به فارسی: انگیزه) was published; which is the common album by Erfan Paydar and Dara Paydar 2020. This album contains 11 tracks and Madgal has a personal song in this album called The Voice (به فارسی: صدا) composed by Dara Paydar, the official composer of Paydar band.
Singletrack and the album Violet
In 2020, Madgal and GDaal released a single track named Violet, composed by Madgal herself. This song is about the beginning of the romantic relationship of Madgal and GDaal; this song has also a music video which is recorded in Toronto. After a while, they decided to release a short album (EP) with the same name, Violet, which is not released yet. All the tracks of this album are composed by Madgal.
YouTube activities
Madgal was always interested in making contents for YouTube and when she immigrated to Canada, she started her activities as the pioneer YouTubers of Iran. Most of her contents on YouTube are fun and educational videos and GDaal attends in most of them. The contents on her YouTube channel contains different subjects like cooking, skincare routines, cosmetic and health products review and etc.
Reason to choose Madgal as artistic title
Atoosa has explained that Madgal literally means “mad girl”. She also interprets that due to her differences in her childhood comparing her same age kids and because of her ADHD, she was not that much sociable and these differences were turning to be a negative feature in her mind; and she chose this name to change this negative feature to appositive one in herself.
